Sterilize Mason jars for home canning can be quite a project. There are different ways to sterilized Mason jars. Depending on the method you take on, your kitchen can get quite steamy and the jars do get very hot to handle. You might even burn yourself occasionally. Yeah, it happens in our kitchen too. Ouch!
We find that using a stainless steel thong makes it so much easier to move the jars around. With big help of a nice thick cotton glove to tighten the lids once the goodies are filled, the canning project does become easier.

3 Easy Steps to Sterilize Mason Jars
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Put Mason jars and lids in the dish washer and run a hot water short cycle. Remove from dish washer once the cycle is complete.
Place washed jars on an oven tray and bake in the oven for at least 10 minutes. Remove the jars one by one from oven as you start the canning process. Keep the oven on and the door closed until you are done canning.
