Café Shakerato

Café Shakerato is one of these drinks that would bring the wow responses from our house guests consistently. This is a fairly simple drink to whips up. The ingredients and steps do take some special attention.

Use only the best ingredients you can find. Pick freshly dark roasted coffee beans. We like Italian espresso or French dark roast. If the coffee beans have a smooth shiny coating, you are on the right track.
Next, it is the sugar. We like raw cane sugar or Turbinado.

To make Café Shakerato, you will need an espresso maker. We use stove top to make ours, just enough for 2 cups. And it has to be freshly brewed hot espresso.
No short cut here! The hot espresso will break up the ice which makes the Café Shakerato more foamy.

Ingredients

Dark roasted coffee beans. We like Italian espresso freshly grounded.
Your favorite liquor, we like Cointreau or Calvados. Whisky, Bourbon or Amaretto will work well.
Raw cane sugar
A couple mint leaves for garnish
Ice cubes

Steps

Brew espresso
Fill the cocktail shaker half way with ice cubes. Not crushed iced, ice cube!
Add 2 espresso cups of hot espresso.
Add sugar & favorite liquor.
Shaker rigorously until ice is broken up.
Pour the coffee through a cocktail strainer into the serving cups.
Garnish with mint leaves and enjoy!
