For this recipe, we are using simple puff pastry recipe that will give us the flaky effect and buttery flavors. It tastes so good with this fresh herb filled mushroom filling. Yum!

1 lb mushrooms, cremini preferred
butter
fresh thyme
fresh tarragon
fresh marjoram
milk, optional

Recipe
------- To make the mushroom filling ------- Heat the cooking pan with medium heat. Add butter. Add mushroom and herbs Continue to stir until mushroom juice is reduced to almost dry. Add milk. Continue to cook until there is no liquid in the pan. Remove from heat The filling is ready to use once it is cooled off. ------- To make the dough ------- Go to Simple Puff Pastry Recipe Post ------- To assemble the pastry with mushroom filling ------- Roll the dough into desired rectangular size. Make 2 identical size sheet per pastry. Spread the mushroom filing over one sheet, as under layer. Leave about 3/8 inch or just enough to seal the dough. Brush the top of the edges with egg wash. Fold the top layer in half. Cut into the fold rectangle to make the slats for the jalousie. Leave about 3/8 inch or just enough to seal the dough. Transfer the slatted top onto the mushroom. Line up the edges of top and under layer of the dough. Chill the pastry for 15-20 minutes before baking. Preheat oven at 425F Bake for 20 minutes or until they are lightly brown. Turn down the oven to 300F, bake for another 15-20 minutes Remove from oven and serve.Flaky and Buttery Mushroom Jalousie
