Grilled Mackerel with Aleppo Pepper
Ingredients
1 mackerel, cleaned and trimmed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon Aleppo Pepper
Steps
Preheat the broiler.
Gently score the skin of the mackerel on both sides. This will help to cook the mackerel more evenly.
With medium low heat, heat the olive oil in a small sauce pan.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Stir in butter, vinegar, Aleppo pepper and mixing well.
Brush the olive oil mixture all over the mackerel on both sides, including the cavity one once or twice until well coated.
Transfer mackerel to the baking sheet.
Place the tray in the oven about 4 inches from the heat.
Broil mackerel about 4 minutes on each side.
Remove from the heat and serve.
If the skin is not crisp, torch the skin until crisp.
